A couple of weeks ago I was talking to this really great chef I know, Derrick, who happened to mention he had a new restaurant coming up in Muyenga and extended an invite. It took me a hot minute but I shimmied on over to that other side of town to see what this restaurant was all about.

Located on Tank Hill road Muyenga at the top of the Italian Supermarket complex, Urban Chevre is a chic, spacious café restaurant and work space open from 8am to 8:45 pm Monday to Sunday. They offer an impressive breakfast menu the best part of which is breakfast is served till 3pm, some Italian themed mains, burgers, desserts, freshly baked cakes and Amish style bread.

They’ve also got 20% happy hour on cocktails every Friday from 5 to 7pm as well as some incredible discounts on selected wines. Pets are allowed as I did see one patron dine in with his dog.

The service here is excellent, the staff are really attentive and friendly, the food is some of the best I’ve eaten in a while and their carrot cake is second to none. Another little bit I do appreciate is how on arrival, every customer gets a bottle of complimentary water with refills should you want it. I’m very grateful for that and feel like every establishment should adopt this. It is after all just water.  Also, all their take way packaging is all plastic free a bonus in my book.

They’ve also good a nice Customer appreciation rewards program where I was offered a free coffee or tea on what became my second visit. A cappuccino never tasted so good before this! This should be in your future once you visit and show them some love on social media.

If it’s your first visit, I’d totally recommend the Shakshoukka, the Comatose breakfast which by the way will leave you in that state exactly, the salmon and eggs on toast as well as all their cakes! It was biscotti galore on my first visit, something that left me so happy it having been my first time trying and loving it.

Urban Chevre really is all that and more. This is definitely my new favorite place. i’m looking forward to eating my way through that whole menu. Urban, may you continue to be your best Goaty selves.
